May Classes

Knit or Crochet for Charity. May 2 from 10 – 2:30 Bring your yarn scraps, toss them in the community basket, choose a new color and knit/crochet away. We will be knitting/crocheting Chemo hats for the Uof M Hospital preferable boy colors. If you can’t come on the 4th stop by for a free pattern and drop off the hats when finished.

Sip ‘N Scarves: Monday evenings in May from 6-8. Cost is $5.00 for the month (even if you don’t participate in the project). If you do the project you will receive 10% off your scarf knitting supplies. Each month we will work on a scarf project – your choice of a knit or crochet pattern. Please note this is not a learn to knit/crochet class but rather a knit/crochet along where we chose a pattern and yarn to work on together, lending support as needed.

Wednesday Morning Knit/Crochet Group – Wednesdays from 10 -12. No charge. There is nothing like a little knitting or crocheting and some crazy girls to get your day off to a good start. Bring your knitting and join us.

Middle of the Mitten Fibers Arts Meeting: Saturday May 9 from 10-2:30. This will be the last fiber meeting at the yarn shop until fall, however for the first time we are going to continue with some other events throughout the summer, beginning this month. Keep Saturday, May 16th open for a fun visit to the farm - the alpaca farm! We are planning to spend the day at North Star Alpacas. Owner Maple Smith has invited us to come and start our day by meeting the alpacas, then sharing a lunch and spending some time doing the fibery things we love. Drum carders, hand cards and wool combs will be available for some fiber blending time if anyone is interested. In June, we will travel to Serenity Farms and meet the Corriedale sheep. A workshop "Learning To Drop Spindle" is being planned at Serenity Farms as well as plenty of time to visit the baby lambs and fondle the wool! July will take us to the Kaufmans farm where we will see Shetland sheep and take in Mary's beautiful gardens. In August, Hilda Oakes historic Michigan farm will be our host. Look for more details, dates and times at this blog shortly! Any questions about the Fiber Group events should be directed to Cary Smith at
